We are talking about a living legacy, not something you leave behind at the end of your life. What kind of life are you leading now?
It’s important to sit down and talk about personal finances. When Tia first sat down with me, she was coming out of a divorce, owned her own business, and working to give her kids a consistent life. Tia didn’t feel like she had any money available at the end of the month. She wasn’t sure how she could save for the future.
We’ve seen this pattern with thousands of people over the decades. Money comes in and we’re just spending it as we get it. Even though you might be okay right now, you’re not thinking of the big picture.
You go to school to learn how to make money, but when you get out of school, you don’t know how to save. A lot of business owners don’t even have six months of rent put away. We’ve seen many people in their 60s or 70s reaching into their pension only to find that the stock market took their money.
To keep that from happening, start a journal. Keep track of what you spend each day.

Don’t judge yourself. Just record what you spent your money on and how much you spent. You may be surprised to find how many pumpkin spice lattes you go through each week!
